A technical boot for winter conditions and ideal for every type of climbing: ice, mixed, and classical winter alpinism, mountaineering, ice fall climbing. A six layer insulating structure gives excellent heat retention which has been tested to high levels in the Himalayas. The watertight gaiter with transversal closure wraps around the foot to ensure the creation of an extra barrier against the cold. Very lightweight at under 1000 grams per boot and not bulky. Ideal for mountain guides and anyone else working outdoors during the winter season.
This "new model" appears little changed from the old one. Major differences are a new, more waterproof zip and tape rather than metal eyelets in the lacing system around the ankles. These are both changes that needed making as two of the main complaints we have received about this boot in the past related to slight water leakage at the toe area in very wet slushy conditions and slight discomfort around the front of the ankle, however they are not major enough improvements, in our view, to make anyone ditch their old pair for the new version. The only other problem we have had reported in the past was of chunks of rubber coming out of the sole unit but this seems to have been a one off and by far the great number of reports we have had are from customers who are very happy with their super comfy, warm winter climbing boots. The image has been "photoshopped" slightly from the one Sportiva supplied as the changes in appearance are now not as radical as those originally planned - we await a correct image.
