Thermo-fitted inners, long used in ski boots, have finally made it into the climbing world, and provide more warmth for less weight. Ideally they need to be fitted in the shop by one of our trained personnel. However these boots can be used without thermo-fitting the inners or you can contact us for instructions. It is possible to thermo fit the inner for a standard fit or for a more relaxed fit by wearing different thicknesses of socks.
Developed from Scarpa's Alpha mould, the Omega is probably the lightest and most comfortable plastic boot on the market. Thermo fit liners offer a huge weight reduction, enhanced warmth and the improved fit that a custom liner brings (ideally you need to get these fitted here in the shop where we have an oven). There are no half sizes as the thermo-fitting can reduce the inner boot by at least half a size if need be. When thermo- fitting, if you have a narrow foot, lace the boots slackly, this will mean thicker foam when it sets, and vice versa, if you have a wide foot, lace the boots tightly.
NB This is the new (2008) version with the new Canadian made Intuition (IT) inner which is allegedly crack proof!
Weight 2010 gm for a pair of size 10s. Crampon Compatibility B3.
Very approximate guide to altitude/conditions this boot is suitable for: Up to 7000m.
NB - these are state of the art plastic climbing boots, but they are not designed for ski-ing and ski-touring as they are too lightweight. We suggest using Vegas if you want to ski into routes. Though the ability to ski out again in Vegas will elude all but the most elite plankers!
