Excellent karabiner design that is a cross between a krab and a mousetrap! The gate can be set open one handed but as soon as a rope or bolt is clipped in it snaps shut, making clips much easier and enabling you to clip bolts that are just out of reach with the minimum of effort.
It can be used on either end of a quickdraw. If the quickdraw is long and stiff then it can be used to clip those just out of reach bolts. At the bottom end of the draw it makes clipping a rope in as quick and easy as it can possibly be.
Could be teamed up with something like Grivel's Dog Bone, or make up longer draws with long extenders, Petzl String, some stiffening device (a bit of old hose maybe?) and Duct Tape.
Can obviously also be used as a standard karabiner without setting the gate and could be used in conjunction with just about any suitable pole and a bit of imagination as a clip stick.
