"Half Ropes" are designed to be used in pairs and are mainly used for trad climbing, where the leader is responsible for placing their own protection.
They are also used on their own for glacier travel, easier mountaineering routes and scrambling. For most climbers owning one 50m half rope is idea as their climbing partner will have the other one, but if buying a pair, be sure to order two different colours.
60m half ropes can be handy on some harder winter and alpine routes but you'l have to buy a pair as no-one else yopu climb with will have one!

This is actually standard 9mm rope and therefore dynamic rather than static. It is thus suitable for leading short scrambles. Breaking Strain when new: 19.5kN approx. Weight per metre: 52g. Colours vary. Price per metre.
