Ripstop Extenders

Ripstop Extenders (or Screamers) are specialist extenders for marginal placements of the sort usually encountered whilst aid climbing. The idea is that by building in stitching that rips in the event of a high shock load some of the energy of the fall will be displaced and the gear may hold rather than pull out - then again you could just quit climbing and become a morris dancer.

DMM - Ripstop Shock Absorber

£13.25

A dynamic load limiting quickdraw designed to absorb the impact force of a fall that would otherwise be loaded directly onto dodgy protection such as ice-screws and micro-wires.

Yates - Screamer

£17.99

A Screamer is a sling sewn up with stitches that are designed to rip under load so that the impact of the load is gradual rather than sudden. They provide added protection in climbing and rescue situations. The standard Screamer can effectively reduce peak loads by 3-4kN in any climbing or rescue system.

Yates - Shorty Screamer

£24.99

The Shorty screamer offers the same properties as the standard Screamer but in a more compact/neat design - shrink wrapped in duarable plastic.

Yates - Zipper Screamer

£29.99

The Zipper is the daddy of the screamer range - it will offer a greater reduction in the impact force applied to a runner in the event of a long fall.

Yates - Scream-Aid

£18.99

A Screamer designed for "use on extremely marginal aid placements only"!

Yates - Ice-Scream

£18.99

Ice-Scream offers the same properties as the standard Screamer with the addition of a convenient tie-off mechanism for ice screws.

Petzl - String
