Rucksacks and associated products have been divided into approximate usages - however there is much crossover. Many people will happily use a crag sack (ca 45 litres) for Scottish Winter climbing whilst others will use an alpine sack (ca 60 litres) to visit their local roadside outcrop and are just as likely to have used the same sack for a 7000m peak, so, when looking fo a particular ruck sack, it is important to look in all the usage sub-departments that you might want your sack to cope with.
