We stock a very large range of harnesses and really recommend that you visit us to try your harness out in the shop as this should guarantee a correct fit. However, for those who can't squeeze a visit to this beautiful part of the world into their busy lifestyle we offer a selection of our harnesses here that have been chosen for their versatility in terms of fit.

Some tips - Do remove hankerchiefs, car keys, bulging wallets etc, from your trousers before trying on harnesses. Do remove pullovers etc too. Don't get a harness that you can do up the waistbelt as tight as it can go - buy the next size down so that there is always room to tighten it further. You do not want to risk sliding out of it in a head first fall. Check your waist measurement well above the hips, at your thinnest bit!

The Renegade is DMM's flagship harness for the most demanding climber; it's padded, stiffened and ergonomic waist belt allows gymnastic movement while providing extra comfort on belays or falls.

The floating waistbelt means that you can centre the gearloops no matter what size you are or how many layers you are wearing.

Seven gear loops allow enough gear to be taken on even the longest of routes and your belay plate, nut key, Prusik loops etc to be carried well out of the way when climbing.

The leg loops use slide lock buckles to give a massive amount of adjustment so that the harness can be used in all enviroments whether cragging, winter climbing or doing alpine routes.

The waistbelt and legs use a Cordura face fabric for extra durability, the tie-in points are protected by a layer of Cordura in a high-light colour so that any excessive wear is easily seen and the belay loop is built of a really tough tape rated at 25kN.

A slimmer, cheaper version of the Calidris, now using Petzl's "Frame" technology where the main strength of the harness is provided by the edging tape meaning the bulk of the belt can made from a light breathable mesh for greater comfort.

Comfortable and ventilated adjustable harness designed for extended dangling. The wide waist belt and leg loops provide all the comfort, support and ventilation needed for long aid routes and other activities requiring extended periods of hanging (cleaning and equipping routes, etc). All but eliminates low-strength components on a climbing harness. Altough education is a key element in harness safety, this new harness has safety built into it, so that when someone makes a critical mistake (like belaying off a gear loop or tying-in improperly), the harness itself is strong enough to prevent catastrophe. 480g approx.

A comfortable, durable and very affordable harness with fixed leg loops making it ideal for climbers who are only interested in rock. This really should be called the Super Alpine harness - A very good ultralight winter, alpine and expedition harness on the market that is also fine for trad rock climbing. Five gear loops, quick release leg elastics, central belay loop and very, very light. No leg loops to adjust, step through, or unbuckle, make this a doddle to put on when wearing crampons or skis. Very light (thin) waist padding. 350g approx.

A bit of a misnomer - although this harness could be used for alpine climbing it has only two rudimentary gear loops, and the DMM Super Couloir would be a much better choice. This is the ideal harness for group instruction, easy to use and fits just about everyone from very small children to very fully grown adults. 400g approx.

A "one size fits all" harness designed for instructional use. It actually comes in two sizes. The Regular is ideal for use with children and young adults and in fact nearly everybody else (it fits up to a 46 inch waist!), whilst the Extra Large would be better for use with adults where some of them are likely to be very large indeed.

On the Threadback model the belt and legloop tapes must be threaded back through the buckles to lock them.

A chest harness is for use in situations such as big wall aid climbing and crevassed glacier travel where upright stability is critical. A special full body harness for children aged around 4 - 9 years, adjustable by autolocking DoubleBack buckles at the rear (the child cannot adjust or undo them). Highly recommended for all children in this age group as their hips are often not developed enough to prevent them slipping out of a waist harness.

New for 2008 from Wild Country - a full body harness for children. The two problems with putting smaller children in standard waist climbing harness is that they (the children) are top heavy and have thin waists with virtually nothing in the way of hips. This first problem means that they are likely to tip upsidedown if they fall off, while the second means that if they do tip, they can fall out of a standard waist harnesses.

Designed to take children up to 40kg (and most likely in the age range 4 or 5 - 10), this full body harness has greater adjustment than a Petzl Ousiti and should fit fairly tall children.

It has has Ziplock buckles for safety and more padding than any other model we have seen, though it is a bit heavier - though as it's main use is likely to be at climbing walls and roadside outcrops this shouldn't be a great concern.
