UK GUIDEBOOK PUBLISHERS |
| |
The major producers of UK climbing guides are some of the senior British Climbing Clubs, ie the SMC, FRCC, CC and BMC. These bodies generally use a volunteer system, though increasingly such "volunteers" will be paid at the very least expenses, if not a percentage of the profits. However these guides are not always a commercial proposition, and profits from good sellers are used to subsidize coverage of less popular areas, with remaining profits going towards conservation/access, or towards improving club facilities. Guides are also produced commercially by several companies on a strictly for profit basis. Major commercial producers are Cicerone and Rockfax, but there are many others. |
