WINDPROOFS

The Buffalo Windshirt is basically a Buffalo Mountain Shirt without the lining. It has no pockets (except a chest map pocket) and no hood though a Buffalo Hood can be attached. However the Buffalo Unlined Hood is (in our opinion) a poor design and we do not stock it, though we would be happy to obtain it to order. Like the Mountain Shirt, the Windshirt features side ventilation zips.

A very effective ultralight windproof layer that allows your body to breathe far more effectively than a "breathable" waterproof.

Very lightweight windproof full-zip jacket with simple hood, no hem drawcord, and only one small pocket (on the chest), into which it all folds. A hangloop in the pocket enables it to be clipped onto a harness with a karabiner.

Shell material: Banshee P-170 with Marmot Defender DWR.

Brilliant on any expedition , whatever the altitude, unless it is likely to be really wet. Pertex is so much more breathable than any waterproof fabric so you can block out snow, iIce and wind, without getting steamed up and then chilling when you stop moving. Made from Pertex® 6 it provides maximum breathability with complete wind protection. Designed to be worn over the Expedition Salopettes and Jacket; it is cut slightly larger to accommodate this and is sized accordingly. However it can also be used over standard clothing like Powerstrech tights and feece tops for alpine type expeditions.

Features: Fixed, double layer hood, with volume adjuster and stiffened peak, High fleece liner collar, Four pockets for storage, two zipped and two Velcro sealed, YKK zips with multiple pullers that run from ankle to wrist to aid ventilation and access, with storm flaps. Not waterproof.

Designed for walkers and mountaineers who prefer a full length zip, but featuring the same close fitting hood as on the Vapour-Rise Smock, this jacket excels for mountain walking and climbing in blustery, cold and showery conditions, but not when it's actually raining as it is not waterproof. What it is though is much more breathable than a waterproof and wind and water repellent. It does a similar job to the Marmot Dri-Clime but in a tougher fabric (albeit heavier) more suitable to climbing and scrambling. Pertex Equilibrium® fabric with new water repellent shield treatment. Pertex Equilibrium® fabric provides a superb, highly windproof and durable operating environment for the user. New shield treatment gives a water repellent outer. Shelled DriClime is the original Softshell. It is a must-have for active outdoor activities. It's concept combines the 3-dimensional wicking of DriClime® with a wind-resistant, highly breathable shell. In use, the DriClime layer transports sweat quickly away from your body. The moisture spreads out on the outer surface of the DriClime® fabric, away from your skin. With the moisture dispersed it is easily evaporated through the quick-drying shell; reducing the chilling effect in situations when your're working hard yet cooling off fast. Ideal for running, biking, climbing (though not super robust, so beware the gnarly chimney). More weather resistant than a Pertex shell on its own.

This is the slighlty less snazzy "Original Version" which functions just as well as other similar Marmot products but is cheaper.

Pertex 4 Ripstop with 'Teclite' micro-pile lining overhead garment. This shirt is the high activity or mild weather alternative to the DP Shirts, where less insulation and maximum wicking is required. Used extensively in milder weather by mountain bikers and cyclists, climbers, and hill walkers.

The unique lining is an ultra lightweight fast wicking hydrophobic micro-pile, which gets rid of internal moisture very rapidly, and although very light the Pertex is surprisingly tough and windproof. Together they provide an exceptional performance in breathability and moisture transmission. The design incorporates the standard features of the "Mountain Shirt" with the addition of an integral hood which folds away into the collar. Recent improvements include a better design of collar and hood adjustment, and cuff straps instead of the previous elasticated cuffs. The sleeves are cut wide enough to pull up over the elbows.
