In many ways, Buffalo was the original softshell, and really, there is little that a soft shell does that Windproofs can't do more cheaply, more lightly, and possibly just as comfortably. However one thing softshell does a lot better than a windproof - it is much more stylish - and of course that is an essential element for success in modern mountaineering (at least it is if you want to get your picture in the mags!). Softshell fabrics are also more stretchy than plain windproofs, allowing greater flexability and reach when climbing, and they are much harder wearing.

Chamois-lined (not real chamois!) collar, chin guard, and windflap. External pockets: two handwarmer (with zipper garages), one left chest; all with DWR-coated zips. Articulated arms. A rare beast - soft shell salopettes!

Conduitª Soft Shell laminate is actually a waterproof highly beathable fabric but not all seams are taped so these are not completely waterproof. However they will keep virtually all wind and water on the outside and warmth on the inside. Close fitting and stretchy, these are ideal for winter climbing, ski touring and downhill ski-ing. A short side zip makes calls of nature possible with a bit of stretching. Weather protective exterior taping and a lightly brushed inner deliver performance and style.
