We are open from 9am - 5.30pm, 7 days a week, every day of the year except Christmas Day and Boxing Day, though we may be a little late to start on New Year's Day!
Keswick lies within the English Lake District, one of the most beautiful National Parks in the British Isles.
Here we are surrounded by high fells (peaks), such as Scafell Pike (978m), Skiddaw (931m), Blencathra (868m) and Helvellyn (950m), as well as the many lakes that give the area its name, such as Derwent Water, Waswater and Windermere.
Here too, we have superb rock climbing ranging from small, roadside outcrops such as Shepherd's Crag, to committing multi-pitch climbs on famous high mountain crags such as Scafell, Gimmer, Dow and Pillar Rock.
In winter, gills (small streams) and waterfalls may freeze and give excellent ice routes, whilst on the high crags, traditional snow gullies and modern buttress routes can provide superb sport.
Needle Sports's old fashioned frontage belies its
cavernous and up to date interior.
The Lake District town of Keswick at the far, northern, end of Derwentwater,
nestles under the mountain massif of Skiddaw (703m).
Keswick is the largest town in the northern Lake District. Over the last two hundred years it has grown from a small market town into a major tourist centre. At the last count, there were over 35 different "outdoor" shops! Of these, and amongst its competitors nationwide, Needle Sports is recognised as one of the leading suppliers of technical mountaineering equipment in the United Kingdom.
