Keswick
lies within the English
Lake District, one of the most beautiful National
Parks in the British Isles.
Here we are surrounded
by high fells (peaks), such as Scafell Pike (978m),
Skiddaw (931m), Blencathra (868m) and Helvellyn (950m),
as well as the many lakes that give the area its name,
such as Derwent Water, Waswater and Windermere.
Here
too, we have superb rock climbing ranging from small,
roadside outcrops such as Shepherd's Crag, to committing
multi-pitch climbs on famous high mountain crags such
as Scafell, Gimmer, Dow and Pillar Rock.
In winter,
gills (small streams) and waterfalls may freeze and
give excellent ice routes, whilst on the high crags,
traditional snow gullies and modern buttress routes
can provide superb sport.
