Grivel G14 Newmatic Crampon Description

  • Brand : Grivel
  • Season :
  • Code : GRI G14N
  • Packaged Weight : 1.6KG
  • Excellent steep ice and steep buttress crampon with simple no tools length adjustment as per the renowned G12. However on this model the front points are forged vertical format points that can easily be adjusted from bi-point to monopoint (tools supplied). Forged points penetrate hard ice better, with less vibration. They can also be replaced when they wear out. In mono-point format they are excellent for mixed climbing as the vertical single point sits well in thin cracks. However this crampon is still flexible enough for walking in. A perfect all-rounder!
Fits boots from 36 - 46ish (however, long bars are available).
Fit only to a B3 Mountaineering Boot.
There are two binding systems available: This is the Newmatic semi-step in with Grivel's excellent plastic toe cap. These are simple to put on and there is a tiny bit more margin for error than with the Crampomatic, thus they can be used on slightly more flexible boots.
Price includes the new yellow two piece anti-balling plates.
1065g/pair approx according to Grivel not including antiballing plates which add just over 100g. We think 1238g/pair in bi-point with anti-balling plates.
Top Tip 1: To fit smaller boots, take the bars out, and swap them over, turning them upside down before fitting them. This brings a small blocking lug into play, effectively shortening the length of the bar.
Top Tip 2: If you have problems fitting the Super-Asymetric bars, take off the AB plates, and you can then slide them in from underneath.
