A combination of The Ridiculous Mountains and Nothing So Simple as Climbing, the two hilarious collections of GJF Dutton essays concerning the mountaineering doings of the Doctor, the Apprentice and the Narrator in the Scottish Highlands. Complete with a cast of eminently recognisable characters from Sodder the English Crag Rat to the Pitfoulie Mountain Rescue Team. Essential reading for anyone with a love of Scottish hills and a sense of humour.

Geoffrey Dutton, who died on 1st June 2010 aged 85, was a real renaissance man. By profession a scientist and lecturer in biochemistry at Dundee University, with a string of scientific papers to his name, Dutton also published several books of poetry, gardening and long-distance wild swimming (a practice he pursued without a wetsuit, even in icy Scottish waters, on the grounds that it interfered with the sensory perception of his body hair). He was a member of the Scottish Mountaineering Club and for many years editor of the journal, in which most of these stories first appeared.

Includes two stories, A Stiff Upper Lip and Fixing Us Up (aka The Dreepie) that also feature in Cold Climbs.

Paperback, 23cm x 15cm, 160 pages.

First Published: The Ridiculous Mountains 1990, Nothing So Simple As Climbing 1993. This combined edition 1990.
