The Aerostat Synthetic 9.0 Mat uses durable 30 denier Nylon ripstop fabric and a tough welded construction. With an insulating R value of 4.0, it’s suitable for year round backpacking and mountaineering down to -25ºC. A custom valve combines inflation and deflation and the supplied stuff sack doubles as a pump.

ASTM F3340 is the outdoor industry’s first Standard method for testing the thermal performance of sleeping mats. It is designed to make comparisons between different brands’ mats easier, and to ensure consistency of testing in the marketplace. Mountain Equipment were involved in the development and writing of ASTM F3340, and as of Spring Summer 2020 onwards all their mats have been tested using this new method.
