La Sportiva

La Sportiva was founded in 1928 when Narciso Delladio hand-crafted wooden-soled leather boots for the foresters and farmers of the Fassa and Fiemme valleys in the Italian Dolomites. After the war, the demand for boots increased obliging Narciso to hire new workers and the good name of "Calzoleria Sportiva" crossed the borders of the valleys: from here, La Sportiva’s history continued to grow. Now the firm produces in the Fiemme Valley boots and shoes for all kind of outdoor activities from climbing and mountaineering, categories in which La Sportiva has a large market share, to fell running and trekking. Recently the company ventured into the ski mountaineering market and also into clothing for running, ski mountaineering and climbing. La Sportiva produces much of what they make at their headquarters at Ziano di Fiemme and the brand is distributed to more then seventy countries worldwide. |
To measure your foot length, stand on the floor with your weight on your foot and put a book against your heel and another against your longest toe. Now carefully remove your foot and measure the distance between the books in centimeters. Repeat for the other foot and then use the longest of the two measurements to work out your foot size.
Shoe/boot conversion sizes vary widely between manufacturers and even from one style to the next from the same manufacturer. The chart below is about as accurate as is possible to compile.
