Needle Sports is getting busier and busier! Consequently we are often on the lookout for good staff. Previous shop experience is useful but not essential. Far more important is a good all round experience of rock-climbing, with experience of and enthusiasm for winter and alpine climbing a distinct advantage. The standard you can climb at is not nearly as important as the amount you do.

We pay reasonably good wages (for a climbing shop), you can get all your gear at trade prices, and extra time off without pay is often allowed for expeditions etc. Please do not apply if "you did a bit of climbing some years ago", "you've only just started", "you've done a lot but can't remember the names and grades", you think "you've ticked Borrowdale because you've done Little Chamonix and Troutdale Pinnacle", or you "used to do a bit but it's mainly bouldering you're into now" (we've heard all these!).

Also please don't apply if you only want to fill in for a few weeks between your outdoor ed work, you want weekends off, holidays over Christmas/New Year, or any sort of career structure.

Please do apply if you think you've got chalk dust and/or ice crystals in your veins, you're a bit of a secret gear freak but not too much of an anorak, and your ideal lifestyle centres around being able to be climbing on Shepherd's, Reecastle or Castle Rock within 15 minutes of finishing work.

If you are interested in working at Needle Sports and think you fit the above, please email: info@needlesports.com, attaching a standard CV and a brief climbing CV.

If we aren't looking for anyone straight away, we can always keep your details on file.
