Ocun

Ocun, or more properly Ocún, is a Czech manufacturer of high quality climbing equipment. In 1988, automotive engineer, Pavel Hendrych, founder of the brand, started making harnesses in his spare time. The first harnesses were manufactured on a sewing machine that belonged to Pavel’s grandmother and the straps were dyed in a large pot in the kitchen. For material, Pavel used decommissioned drogue parachutes he brought home from his military service in the air force. By 1998 the Ocún brand was launched and was one of the first companies to produce bouldering mats. They now produce a huge range of equipment.
