Clear guide to the five easiest routes up Mt Blanc.

On the plus side this guide is chocabloc with superb photos, and so much information and topos on each route that it should be impossible to make a route finding error on a clear day (though we are not guaranteeing this!)

On the minus side, you could buy Volume 1 of the AC guide to Mont Blanc for the same price and get all the information you need to climb all five of these routes, plus a load of other routes on surrounding peaks. Or you could buy the AC's The 4000m Peaks of the Alps which gives you these routes and loads more throughout the alps. Or indeed Damilano's own Snow, Ice and Mixed Volume 2 which gives you masses to do around Mt Blanc, including these climbs. Any of these could be useful as acclimatising on lower peaks is a highly sensible prerequisite to a successful ascent of Mt Blanc.

The routes described are:
  1. The Goûter Route (the Ordinary Route).
  2. The Three Monts (ascent from the Midi via Mont Blanc du Tacul and Mont Maudit).
  3. The Grand Mulets Route.
  4. The Pope Route (better known as the Aiguille Grises Route).
  5. The Miage-Bionnassay Route (ascent from Italy via a traverse of the Dômes de Miage and the Aiguille du Bionassay).

A superb production by François Damilano.
