This third volume in the the Mont Blanc Granite series describes the best rock climbs in the glacial basins on the true right bank of the Mer de Glace: Charpoua - Talèfre - Leschaux. Although this part of the Mont Blanc Range is best known for its long mountaineering routes, it also offers rock climbers an enormous range of high quality granite climbs.
Elegant lines, huge walls and mostly excellent rock are just some of the reasons why these high-mountain crags are becoming increasingly popular. Each area is served by a strategically located hut, each with its own character but all perfect base camps from which to sample the area's delights.
Selected according to quality, the routes described cover the full range of styles on offer, from short multi-pitch routes to big walls and ridge traverses. Each route in the guide comes with a brief written description combined with a detailed topo and a clear photo-diagram.
The descriptions include clear and up-to-date information about approaches and descents, the state of any fixed gear and the difficulty of the climbing. All of this is beautifully illustrated with photos and topo diagrams. Grades range from 4a to 7b+ (French, naturellement!)
A superb little guide, small and light enough to take with you on the route.
