Nine of the best bouldering areas in the Central West part of Spain centred on the town of Béjar, not that far from the Portuguese border.
Currently there are more than 20 bouldering areas in this region, with more than 7.500 boulder problems. The nine selected for this guide are the most developed areas, those that contain the greatest number of problems and those that can be said to be of the best quality. Areas covered: La Dehesa, Agua Dulce, El Puertecito (La Muela), Bloque del Travieso, Peña de la Cruz, Valdesangil, Vallejera, La Hoya and Becedas. Over 2500 boulder problems are included. Most of the climbs that these areas have to offer are on overhangs with excellent granite, generally on edges and crimps, although some enjoyable crack climbing and slopey moves can also be found. Likewise, there are areas in which the granite is slightly more abrasive, but the quality of the problems more than makes up for this.
