Alpine Select is a guide to mountaineering in the high ranges of southwest British Columbia, the Canadian west coast state immediately north of the USA, from the North Cascades in the south, to the Cayoosh in the north, the Tantalus in the west band the Anderson in the east. These ranges are encircled by highway 99 from Squamish to Lillooet and the trans-Canada through the Fraser Canyon and the Fraser Valley.
There are seven ranges (Tantalus, Garibaldi Park, Joffre-Cerise, Cayoosh, Slesse Chehallis and Anderson) and a collection of outliers, all with different characteristics - eighty peaks and more than two-hundred and fifty climbs and scrambles are described. Collectively, they reflect a very wide range, from the easiest of scrambles to two climbs that rank among the hardest in North America. Also include is a section entitled Climbing on Loose Rock!
The guide is illustrated throughout with a comprehensive set of full colour photo-topos plus detailed ascent and descent information. The guide also contains general information about the area for the first-time visitor plus a great selection actions shots.
