Training for the New Alpinism is a manual that guides you in constructing a simple, progressive training program lasting from six weeks to a year and beyond. The book has been heralded as a road-map to greater alpine climbing success for climbers of all abilities.

Scott Johnston began coaching Steve House in 2003 and over the next two years his climbing abilities skyrocketed. In 2010 Scott and House began outlining this book; distilling the lessons they learned through applying state-of-the-art athletic-training principles to House's alpine climbing goals. Three years of work has resulted in an in-depth translation of what they learned about training for alpine climbing. They have created a manual for any climber, of any ability, of any fitness level using the same techniques, strategies, and exercise progressions that House used.

Well illustrated with loads of colour photos and diagrams and quite a tome at 1.5kg - maybe carrying a copy or two around in your rucksack should be part of your training regime!

By Steve House and Scott Johnston, with a forward by Mark Twight.

Card cover, 26cm x 19cm, 464 pages.

Out of stock - we think a new edition is due Autumn 2016
