An excellent variable friction belay device, very similar to the Black Diamond ATC XP. When using narrow ropes the grooves give extra friction. In use it is just as smooth in action for climbing and abseiling as the ATC XP. It accommodates most rope diameters: single ropes 8.5mm to 11mm, half ropes 7.1mm to 9.2mm and twin ropes 6.9mm to 9.2mm. It is intuitive and easy to use at the wall or at the crag. The specific design of the rope slots allows the rope to glide smoothly and reduces wear.
This updated version can deal with narrower ropes than the previous model and is compatible with:
Dynamic single ropes 8.5mm - 11mm.
Dynamic half ropes 7.1mm - 9.2mm.
Dynamic twin ropes 6.9mm - 9.2mm.
