Excellent 10-point semi-flexible walking crampon (though we have spotted some-one climbing a grade V ice pitch in them!) with simple no tools adjustment.

There are two binding systems available:
New-Matic: Semi step-in with Grivel's excellent plastic toe cap and fairly rigid bar - but will will fit only on semi-rigid B3 walking boots and stiffer, with a step in on the heel.
New-Classic: Superb all encasing basket system that means that you can put this crampon on just about anything that is B2 rated or above and it is supplied with a flexi-bar rather than a rigid one, making it more suitable for walking.

The Extra Wide Version (8cm wide at the toe binding rather than 7cm) is designed for use with snowboard boots and high altitude double boots that do not have step-in crampon facilities. It also fits most telemark boots.

Antibott (anti-balling plates) are included.

This Evo model has three major changes over the previous version:

  1. The heel lever is lighter and has only one moving part (as opposed to five) but still adjusts to all suitable boots.
  2. The webbing tape is narrower (12mm as opposed to 14mm) and lighter.
  3. The buckle has been redesigned to be lighter and more compact but still give a strong hold.

All this means that New-Matic models are 54g lighter that their predecessors, whilst New-Classic models are 14g lighter.

Grivel G10 Crampon Evo
Binding Weight/per
New-Matic 716g
New-Classic 756g
Fits boots from 36 - 46ish (however, long bars are available for larger boots).

Top Tip 1: Top Tip 1: For New-Matic models, to fit smaller boots, take the bars out, and swap them over, turning them upside down before fitting them. This brings a small blocking lug into play, effectively shortening the length of the bar.

Top Tip 2: If you have problems fitting the Super-Asymmetric bars, take off the AB plates, and you can then slide them in from underneath.
