Excellent 12-point semi-rigid steep ice, snow and mixed crampon with simple no tools adjustment. This crampon has long penetrating points and is designed for quite technical ice climbing, though it is still a reasonable walking crampon. However anyone needing a crampon mainly for walking and easier routes should consider the Air Tech.
There are a number of binding systems available:
New-Classic: Superb all encasing basket system that means that you can put this crampon on just about anything that is B2 rated or above and it is supplied with a flexi-bar rather than a rigid one, making it more suitable for walking.
New-Matic: Semi step-in with Grivel's excellent plastic toe cap and fairly rigid bar - but will will fit only on semi-rigid B2 or B3 walking boots, with a step in on the heel.
Cramp-o-Matic: Full step-in with a wire front bail and fairly rigid bar. It's quick to put on in a blizzard and feels more rigid and secure than the other bindings, but you do have to get them on just right - rigid boots only. Fit only to a B3 Mountaineering Boot.
Dual-Matic: Can be set up either as a Cramp-o-Matic or as a New-Matic by changing the front binding. This means you can either have a full step-in with a wire front bail and fairly rigid bar, which is quick to put on in a blizzard and feels more rigid and secure than the other bindings, but you do have to get them on just right - rigid boots only, so fit only to a B3 Mountaineering Boot. Or you can have a semi step-in but, instead of the plastic toe cap, webbing straps are supplied - fit only on semi-rigid B2 or rigid B3 boots, with a step in on the heel.
Antibott (anti-balling plates) are included.
Certification: CE EN 893, UIAA 153.
