Designed to be the lightest technical 12 point mono-point crampon in the world and, at well under 850g a pair, it is certainly light and an obvious progression to weight saving at the top end of the crampon market.
It uses Grivel's patented mono-rail technology, the mono-point is replaceable, and there is a second offset and much shorter front point to aid stability on steep ice.
It is only available as a Cramp-o-Matic: Full step-in with a wire front bail and fairly rigid bar. It's quick to put on in a blizzard and feels more rigid and secure than the other bindings, but you do have to get them on just right - rigid boots only.
However, it also comes with a choice of the Standard forged steel mono-points or Katana mono-points, these being made of extremely durable ballistic steel for increased wear resistance.
NB This crampon is designed for steep ice climbing and buttress routes of around Scottish V and above. It is not a suitable crampon for hill walking or general mountaineering. Do buy if you are a Mick Fowler type pushing the limits in the high Himalaya, for higher grade Scottish winter stuff, pure water ice and steep continental mixed.
Fit only to a B3 Mountaineering Boot.
Antibott (anti-balling plates) are included.
Certification: CE EN 893, UIAA 153.
